Servers, virtualisation and networks
Whether a fault affects one PC or the whole office depends on the servers, storage and network. We run Windows and Linux servers, Hyper-V virtualisation, firewalls, Wi-Fi and backup systems, with continuous Zabbix monitoring.
What we run
Windows and Linux servers
Domain controllers, file servers and application servers: updates, permissions, service monitoring and capacity planning.
Hyper-V virtualisation
Creating and sizing virtual machines, backing them up, and monitoring the physical server's hardware.
Firewall and VPN
Configuring and updating firewalls such as FortiGate, remote access over VPN, with the rules documented in writing.
Wi-Fi
Office wireless networks, with guest access kept separate from the internal network.
CCTV
The network side of IP cameras and recorders, storage of footage and access control, kept apart from other systems.
NAS and backup
Network storage and backup systems such as Veeam, verified with test restores.
UPS
Monitoring and configuring UPS units so servers can shut down cleanly in a longer power cut.
Monitoring with Zabbix
Servers, network devices and backups are monitored with Zabbix, so a filling disk, a failed backup or a stopped service is often noticed before staff are affected. Tickets are created from calls and from alerts our engineers act on, so these also appear in the monthly report.
Taking over an existing environment
Takeover starts with the IT audit, which inventories servers, virtual machines, network devices and access. The inventory belongs to you, and we keep it up to date during operations.
If the previous provider left no documentation, we rebuild it from the running systems during the audit, read-only and without changes.
